“Eure Kinder” (Your children) is a half-hour music film and describes the years from the fall of the Berlin Wall until today on the basis of several young people, who meet in the backyard of an apartment building.
They are observed as they get older and mature. The film stays close to the characters and brings in the younger history and cultural phenomena. We experience 25 years of history through the eyes of our protagonists. The time flies, cultural worlds collide, liaisons arise, people die. And in the end, children become parents.
The focus is on AULINE and HENRIK. We start with both of of them at the end of the year 2014, shortly before new years’ eve. They are in their mid-twenties, are expecting a child and are faced with the question, in which world bear their child. The view on a Monday demonstration takes us back to the year 1989, the year of birth of our protagonists.
The end of the GDR is close, the Berlin Wall falls and we get to know the characters step by step. MARTIN, Henriks older brother, his later girlfriend, SVEN, the unsecure contemporary, CHARLY, the son of an immigrant and who later gets together with Sven and MO, the girl with manga eyes. Their stories interconnect and conflicts with the parents and among each other are inevitable. The film talks about bands playing in cellars, graffiti, liaisons, death and hope.
The film shows us the pirouettes, in which we move. Because even when fashion, hairstyles and furniture change, and despite millennium and digital age, we are still confronted with the same questions at the end of a generation.
The film is being accompanied by a song with the same name by the band KRAUS, which sets the main features of the story. The song takes the viewer into the story over the length (of 33 minutes!) and the recurring refrain “Eure Kinder werden so wie wir” (Your children will turn out like us).
“Eure Kinder” is a blazing music film, transcending genres. A quarter of a century in fast forward mode.
„Eure Kinder“ ist ein genreübergreifender Musik-Kurzfilm, ein crossmediales Projekt.
Es ist einerseits ein Kammerspiel über Generationen, Erwachsenwerden und den Umgang mit der Geschichte, über das Zusammenleben und Ausgrenzung. Aber es ist auch filmisches Experiment, da es über die gesamte Lauflänge von einem Musikstück unterlegt ist. Dialoge gibt es nur ein mal kurz vor Schluss, ansonsten ergänzen sich Film und Musik zu einer außergewöhnlichen Filmerzählung. An einigen Stellen schwebt die durch Motion Control geführte Kamera durch unser Setting und macht so Zeitsprünge möglich, ohne den Bildfluss zu unterbrechen. An anderer Stelle springen wir in Stoptricksequenzen und tauchen in die Fantasiewelt unserer Protagonisten ein. Wieder andere Passagen sind mit Handkamera ganz nah an unseren Figuren. Insgesamt kommt der Film mit sehr wenigen sichtbaren Schnitten aus. Die fortschreitende Zeit soll nicht in Episoden aufgeteilt, sondern immer fließend gezeigt werden.
Die Sogwirkung, die das Lied hat, soll so auf die Leinwand transportiert werden. Wir erleben das Vierteljahrhundert wie in einem Zeitraffer. Nicht hektisch, wir nehmen uns Zeit für die Figuren und ihre intimen Momente miteinander. Aber so wie es uns im Alltag manchmal ergeht, dass wir nicht mitbekommen, wie die Zeit dahingleitet, fließt es auch im Film.
Klaus Maeck ist durch seine bisherige Laufbahn der am besten geeignete Produzent für dieses Film-Experiment. Er begann mit Super8-Punkfilmen, war Manager der EINSTÜRZENDEN NEUBAUTEN, Musikverleger mit der Firma FREIBANK und schließlich Mitgründer von CORAZÓN und als Produzent u.a. an Filmen wie SOULKITCHEN und FRAKTUS beteiligt. Seit 2015 geht er mit INTERZONE PICTURES eigene Wege.
Die Arbeiten von Aron Krause sind allesamt eng verknüpft mit der Musik. Für seine Kurz- und Experimentalfilme schrieb er die Musik selber und ist seit 2009 ein gefragter Regisseur für Musikvideos. Zunächst unter dem Label MUSIKBEWEGTBILDER, ab 2015 mit der Firma CLIPPER FILMPRODUKTION realisierte er preisgekrönte Clips für u.a. TOCOTRONIC, ANTILOPEN GANG, FRITTENBUDE und FEINE SAHNE FISCHFILET.
Weder verwandt noch verschwägert, aber mit dem selben Nachnamen: Michael Krause ist Kopf der Band KRAUS. Sein 33-Minuten-Song schrieb er in einer Silvester-Nacht und brachte die Steine für diesen Film ins Rollen. Für die Drehbuchadaption hat er eng mit Aron Krause zusammengearbeitet.
Jennifer Mueller v. d. Haegen hat für JUNAFILM an außergewöhnlichen Filmen mitgewirkt und alle Prozesse der Filmherstellung durchschritten. Auch freiberuflich ist sie als Producer von Werbe- und Spielfilmen sowie Musikvideos tätig und hat zudem Erfahrung in der Aufnahme- und Produktionsleitung.
Der Musiker und Musikproduzent Johann Scheerer liebt Musik und herausfordernde Projekte. Durch seine Arbeit und sein Studio CLOUDS HILL kann er auf viel Erfahrung und ein reichhaltiges Netzwerk zurückgreifen, um den Film EURE KINDER zu unterstützen.
*1989 only knows the German Democratic Republic (GDR) from the stories told by her parents. Her parents have hardly any money and her father has a weak heart. Her parents are far to cool to get upset about her smearing graffiti on posters and so the rebellion against her parents fails. However, through this, a friendship develops between her and Henrik. Then she moves away. In her youth, she vacillates between hedenoism and thinness mania. However, she becomes mature very quickly and studies journalism. As a blogger, she comes across Henrik again and they become a couple, move in together and he helps her to get over her father’s death.
*1988 moved from the western part of Germany to Berlin shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall, together with his older brother Martin and his parents. He is quit, has lots of fantasy and early discovers his passion for painting. As a teenager he becomes a graffiti sprayer and thereby impresses Auline but disgruntles his parents. He becomes even more introverted when Auline moves away and as a young adult, he lives in a chaotic room and paints the walls with wild pictures. Meeting Auline again, who certainly made something of her life, gives him new strength.
*1978 is 10 years older than Henrik. He is his idol and a bad example at the same time. As a teenager he impresses Gero with his moped and annoys Charly because of his migrant background. Then he becomes a Punk, is politically active and makes music. Gero and Martin become a couple. Later on, they are down-to-earth and may express their punk attitude in fashion accessories.
*1978 is a premature, self-confident teenager. She wears a keffiyeh and doesn’t smile a lot. First, she disdains the advances of Martin, but later on falls in love with him. Even as an adult, she has some certain kind of anger and restlessness.
*1982 is an insecure boy with glasses and a strong sense of justice and romantic. He is searching for the love of his life. He thinks he found the love of his life in a girl named Mo. Then Mo suddenly moves away. When Charly is threatened, he surpasses himself and protects him. A friendship develops and Sven and Charly become a couple.
*1980 is the son of a Greek immigrant and Green Party politician. After the reunion he is being bullied because of being different. He adores the self-confident Gero, but then falls in love with Sven, who protects him against Martin. They two remain a couple, Charly goes into politics.
*1981 has something unpredictable in her attitude. As a teenager she looks like a girl in the Manga comics, which she is reading. She turns Sven’s head, then moves away and only appears barely. She becomes the author of Graphic Novels.
